Alaska Airlines is set to introduce its first-ever International Business Class next week, marking a significant step in its expansion into long-haul travel and strengthening its competitive position on global routes.
Debuting from 28 April 2026 on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the new product will launch with nonstop service from Seattle to Rome, followed by London on 21 May and Reykjavík on 28 May, with Seoul and Tokyo also part of the airline’s growing international network.
The move marks Alaska’s entry into true long-haul widebody operations and underlines its broader ambition to evolve into a more global carrier from its West Coast base, supported by its membership in the oneworld alliance, now connecting travellers to more than 900 destinations worldwide.
The new cabin includes 34 fully lie-flat suites in a 1-2-1 configuration, with privacy doors, direct aisle access, 18-inch HD screens, power outlets, wireless charging, noise-reducing headsets and a content library of more than 1500 movies and TV shows. Dining and onboard service reflect an upgraded positioning, including curated multi-course menus and premium beverage selections such as Roederer Champagne.
Additional features include premium bedding developed with Filson, curated amenity kits featuring Salt & Stone products, and expanded lounge access across Alaska’s network and its oneworld partners. High-speed Starlink Wi-Fi is scheduled to be introduced on the 787-9 fleet from later in 2026.
