News of the week from AIX Hamburg: Air Canada unveils new long-haul cabin design

Air Canada has unveiled what it describes as its biggest interior investment to date at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, presenting completely reimagined long-haul designs that will debut on the Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The new product, built around the airline’s “Glowing Hearted” standard, will begin entering service this summer on the A321XLR. The design also introduces a more distinct Canadian identity, with materials, lighting and finishes referencing natural textures and national symbols.
The aircraft will introduce 14 lie-flat Air Canada Signature Class seats, marking the first time a single-aisle aircraft in Canada will offer a true lie-flat premium experience, alongside new transatlantic route potential and upgraded transcontinental services.
On the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the headline addition is the new Air Canada Signature Plus Suite, a front-row premium product offering more space and privacy. The suites feature a two-metre bed, quartzite-topped table and a dedicated guest seat, while centre suites include companion seating and a fully retractable privacy panel designed for passengers travelling together.
Across all cabins, Air Canada is introducing new ergonomic seats with built-in tablet holders and larger overhead bins, significantly larger 4K OLED screens with Bluetooth audio, and USB-C and AC power at every seat. Premium Economy will also feature extended privacy wings.
Screen sizes will range from 13 inches in Economy to up to 27 inches in premium cabins, depending on aircraft and configuration.
The “Glowing Hearted” design standard also extends beyond the seat, forming part of broader investments in onboard service, food and beverage, connectivity and digital tools across the airline’s network.
