High Art at High Altitude: Austrian Airlines New Amenity Kits

Austrian Airlines is adding a touch of Viennese design heritage to its long-haul flights with new amenity kits created in collaboration with the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK) Vienna.
The kits feature textile designs from three of the most influential artists of the Wiener Werkstätte: Koloman Moser, Dagobert Peche, and Mathilde Flögl. Once emblematic of early 20th-century Viennese modernism, their patterns now find a new stage at cruising altitude.
Inside, travelers will discover the familiar inflight comforts: a sleep mask, socks, a toothbrush, toothpaste tablets, and earplugs.
So why cover this?

Because it’s not only about design: Amenity kits are not to be underestimated — they can be the difference between a restless flight and restorative sleep above the clouds.

In other words, while the eye-catching patterns set these kits apart, the real test in the sky is whether the sleep mask truly blocks out light and the earplugs actually deliver peace and quiet in the skies.
